Exciting news!

We have some very exciting news!  Last week two girls were approved by our Board of Directors to move into Harvest House!  It’s taken us longer than expected to reach this point, but we are so thankful for everyone who has supported us along the way.  We wouldn’t be able to do this without you.

We have already started to work with the girls on developing their goals.  This will be a focus throughout their stay at Harvest House.  We look forward to seeing change in their lives and we can’t wait to share it with you.

On a side note, last night we celebrated the end of another Princess Program.  The Princess Program is a 10 week study put on by Harvest Youth Ministries that teaches young women valuable life lessons such as purity and self worth.  After the girls got their hair and nails done they were escorted by limo to one of Dayton’s finest restaurants.  Pictured below are the girls.  Even though the Princess Program is technically over the girls want to continue the study which is great!  Thanks to HYM supporters for making this happen!  Also a special thanks to H & A Limousines and The Racquet Club :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have so much to be thankful for at Harvest House.  Although we don’t have girls in the house and we haven’t raised all of our monthly support, we are moving forward and it may not be long until we have our first residents.

Over the last month we had our annual fundraiser dinner for Harvest Youth Ministries at the Attic, our first meeting with the Harvest House Board of Directors, and the start of the Princess Program.  The Princess Program is a Bible study for young women that volunteer at the Attic.  At the end of the 10 week program we reward the girls with a night out to a fancy restaurant.  This time we are working through the book Every Young Woman’s Battle.

We have also began to accept applications online for girls interested in living at the house.  Please pray that the Lord would make it clear which girls we should accept into the house, because there are several that we have been praying about.

As far as financial support, right now we are at $900 in monthly support out of our $3,000 projected goal.  Over the last month we have received a couple substantial one time gifts that have significantly helped, but we are still struggling to meet our monthly goal.  If you’re interested in giving, there is a donate link on our site.

If you’re interested in meeting with us to learn more about Harvest House or you’re interested in a tour of the home please don’t hesitate to email us at harvestdayton@gmail.com.  We’d love to meet you!

Blessings,

Casey & Christine

Sept 2nd Update

Continue to pray for Harvest House.  Our initial goal of putting girls in the house by August 1st has passed.  We still do not have girls in the house, but the good news is the house is furnished and ready for at least two girls.

The only thing holding us back at this point is the financial support.  We have had several very generous one-time donations, but right now we need the monthly support more than anything.  We are not fundraisers.  We know God will provide if we continue to obey Him.  If you haven’t prayed about the opportunity to give to Harvest House, please take time to talk to God about it.  Also, tell your friends about Harvest House.  We need all the prayer and support we can get!

Right now we are sitting at about 15% of our monthly target in monthly support.  Help put us at 100%.  If 126 people give just $20 a month we will be at our goal.

We will continue to keep you updated!

Blessings,

Harvest House Friend

My wife and I have a very close friend named Laura.  Laura came down last week for two days and volunteered at Harvest House with another great friend of ours named Andrea. Laura was kind of sick when she was here but that didn’t stop her from helping. Here is a photo of Laura.

After we did alot of work around the house I took the girls out for ice cream. We had some nice talks about our past and the plans for the future at Harvest House.

The following week she went to the hospital and immediately was sent to the Toledo Hospital where she found out she has a rare untreatable type of lung cancer.  This is a shock to me because she is not only one of my very close friends, but we are the same age.  Not even to the age of 30 yet.

Life is a crazy thing.  Lots of things happen we never know why, but this was written on her facebook this morning.  Tears fill my eyes…

Meet the House Parents

We want to take some time to introduce ourselves since many of you probably don’t know us.
We will be the house parents at Harvest House living side-by-side with the girls on a daily basis.

We both grew up in small towns in Northwest Ohio and moved to Dayton shortly after we married in July of 2008. Casey recently graduated from the School of Advertising Art with a graphic design degree and is currently working at Nova Creative in Centerville while Christine works at Verizon Wireless in Xenia. We are expecting our first child this December, which is very exciting.  We just found out Monday that it’s going to be a boy!

We’ve been volunteering with Harvest Youth Ministries for almost two years now and really can’t wait to see how God works at Harvest House. While we really have a lot of responsibility on our shoulders we know we can’t do this alone. We need help. Please continue to pray for us, the house, and the girls. The only way we are going to see a difference in the lives of these girls is with God’s help.

God bless,

Casey & Christine Spitnale

JULY 4th Update

Well the past two weeks were filled with volunteers, meetings, phone calls, packing…. The list could go on forever.  We were grateful to first have friends from Columbus come in on a Sunday and help clean.  The next weekend we had a House Church volunteer gardening work.

We have had so much support with the house and lawnwork. We still are raising funds to meet our finacial goals. Keep praying for Harvest House.  Some things are coming together smoothly, others are hitting every speed bump on the road.

Here are some Pictures!

Cleaning Tile.  Ben and Kate and family did such a great job.  Kate runs a unique business.  Check her out: http://www.modernalternativemama.com/

Support Harvest House Today

The house is almost ready for move in!  We can’t thank the volunteers enough for all the time they put into making the house a home for the girls.  It’s looking really good!

We still have a lot of work to do when it comes to fundraising.  Each month we need around $2,500 to pay for rent, utilities, and food for the girls.  Right now to be honest we don’t even have half that.

While we greatly appreciate the one-time donations, we need a group of solid supporters that can commit to giving each month.  It could be as little as $10 or $20, but it’s this support that will keep our doors open and help us grow as a ministry.

$100 a month feeds a girl for a month

$200 a month pays our electric bill

$300 a month pays one girl’s share of rent

If you can help please visit the support link on our website or you can email us for a brochure at harvestdayton@gmail.com.

P.S. We are also scheduling appointments.  If you would like to meet with the House Parents who will be running Harvest House please contact us to schedule meeting.
