See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1
I read training guidelines from an organization awhile ago stating their clients should never be referred to as boys or girls but always as either ladies and gentlemen or young women and young men. The reasoning behind it was that it was disrespectful to refer to those they are working with as “boys” and “girls” as it sounded condescending. I have been told before, when writing newsletters or Facebook posts, I should use the phrase young ladies or young women when referring to the gals here at the house.
That is all well and good, but I just cannot stop myself from calling them ‘the girls’ when I’m speaking to people. Last month I mentioned that I often look at these ladies in the same way that I do my own children. I often refer to my own daughters as my girls. My sister and I are both in our 30’s, and my mom refers to us as “her girls”. I have never once been offended by that.
I suppose I understand the guideline, but you’ll have to forgive me if I call these young women ‘the girls’, they are my girls and I’m blessed to have them in my life!!
Have a blessed day,
