And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.” says the Lord Almighty 2 Corinthians 6:18
Aaron and I recently met with a young lady who should have seemed completely defeated by life. Her story was one where I had to keep from gasping at the horror that had been inflicted on her throughout most of her life. No one should have to deal with the things life had thrown at her.
Most people don’t see that. They see the mistakes she has made. They see the results of the scars she carries, but most don’t dig to the root of the problem. WHY are your actions what they are today? HOW did you get to this point in your life? And WHO hurt you?
A friend of mine recently posted a quote that said, “A rejection of the image-giver always results in injustices against the image-bearers.” (Daniel Darling) Read that again. Rejection of the Lord always results in injustices against those who bear His image. And just a recap of Genesis 1 – we were ALL created in His image.
My husband reminds me, and everyone who will listen, they are dearly loved children of God. He reminds as adopted sons and daughters, we have full rights to the love and power and mercy that is our Lord. This world is handing out abuse left and right, but we have the key to putting an end to it!
This young lady, well I have great hope for how her story ends. Multiple people have spoken to her about God’s love and His desires for her life. They have told her she is treasured, wanted, valuable. I don’t know how her story will end, but I am praying it ends in victory over the things that have abused her for so long and as a testament to her adoption into God’s family.
