And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
I have a newsletter in my head that includes a picture of my children pressed up against the back window anxiously awaiting the arrival of a young lady due to move in that day. The problem is, every time I sit down to write that story, I can’t get past the first line or two. It is a good one with some twists and turns, but it isn’t what today needs.
The young ladies that make up Harvest House aren’t just the ones currently calling this place home. I have been collecting young women in this family of mine since before I was even out of my teens. For the past 16 years, young women have gone in and out of my life. Some stick around and will never get rid of me, others are only involved for a season. And friends, there is a lot of aches and pains in that family right now.
My heart is heavy today with all the pressures and big life things these girls are handling. You name it, we’re probably going through it – fighting for sobriety, fighting to stay sober, fighting for health, pregnancy, miscarriage, abuse, custody disputes, finding an apartment, finding money for next month’s bills, finding it in them to fight one more day.
We know He is already in the mess and ache of these things. We know He loves us, not as a group where the good and the bad will balance out in the end, but individually we are seen and loved and cared for. Pray they would turn to God and not the world as these things press down. Pray these young ladies would stand strong and God would be glorified in the writing of their stories.
